Aesculus Hippocastanum
Beautiful white flowers. No fruit. Flowering lasts longer than the species. Best used in large, open areas.

Crataegus Crusgalli
A thornless variety. Rounded spreading form. Medium texture. Leatherly, glossy, deep-green foliage. Orange-scarlet fall color.

Hamamelis Virginiana
Native plant, and the most cold hardy of all witchhazels. Dark green glossy leaves which turn bright yellow in the fall.

Taxodium Distichum
Native Tree. Good as street tree. Drought tolerant. Often found in wet, swampy areas, often in standing water.

Jun. squamata 'Blue Star'
Silver-blue foliage. Awls are shaped like stars; hence the name. Retains dense shape. May not do well in high humidity.

Juniperus chinensis 'Gold Lace'
Golden foliage color intensifies in fall and winter. Flat-top spreading habit

Juniperus chinensis 'Kallay's Compact'
A compact Pfitzer with a fairly flat top used as a low hedge, mass planting or foundation planting.

Picea glauca 'Conica'
Foliage is very dense and does not require pruning. Evergreen; nice in winter containers.

Shrubs

Aesculus parviflora
Beautiful cylindrical panicles of pinkish-white flowers with red anthers form in June and July. Lovely as a specimen or for massing. Spreads by suckers. Pruning unnecessary.

Amelanchier alnifolia 'Regent'
Multi-stemmed shrub is compact with excellent foliage and extra sweet edible fruit. Tolerates alkaline soil.

Aronia melanocarpa 'Morton'
Selected at the Morton Arboretum and introduced by the Chicagoland Grows Program. Airy 2" white flowers followed by clusters of polished purple-black berries.

Clethra alnifolia 'Ruby Spice'
Good shrub for shady wet areas. Color does not fade.

Perennial

Alchemilla mollis
Soft green foliage with rounded lobed leaves and tiny yellow star-shaped flowers. Water droplets collect on foliage, creating a silvery effect. Flowers are excellent cut and in dried arrangements; should be removed when fading so plant doesn't go to seed.

Ajuga repens 'Chocolate Chip'
Dwarf cultivar with small narrow chocolate-colored leaves. Good choice for small spaces.

Allium cernuum
Grass-like foliage with nodding elegant flower heads. Early summer pinkish-purple flowers. Can be used in cultivated beds in masses.

Allium tanguticum 'Summer Beauty'
Persistent narrow foliage. Flowers mid-summer. Seeds sterile; does not spread.

Ajuga genevensis
Genevensis will tolerate more sun than reptans if adequate moisture is provided. It does not spread as aggrssively as reptans and is not stoloniferous.

Hedera helix 'Bulgaria'
Large leaf size. Though hardy, it may be damaged by winter winds and sun and does best with protection from both.

Pachysandra terminalis 'Green Carpet'
Evergreen groundcover. Rhizomatous. Site in a shady location. Good choice for underplanting shrubs and trees.

Sedum acre
Forms a low carpet of tiny succulent green leaves; the tips of each stem turning yellow. Tiny golden star-shaped flowers
